WordPress plugin for Events

Need to publish events on your WordPress-powered blog? Here’s a great plugin for just that:   Events. It’s what I use for my Upcoming Events section on AngDabawenyo.com. See it in action

There are, however, a few things that I’d like to see added to this plugin’s features. My wish list:

Image uploader and corresponding settings for [...]

Useful plugin for code

Do you blog about geeky stuff like coding how-to’s? Do you publish visible code on your blog posts? Here’s a nifty plugin for that: FV Code Highlighter. See how it works here and here.
It displays your code in its own space, and there’s even syntax highlighting! The plugin author’s site doesn’t say so, but it [...]

iPhone-compatible blogs

All my blogs are now iPhone/iPod touch-compatible!
Thanks to Winston for giving me the heads-up on the existence of these WordPress plugins. There are a few similar plugins out there, but the one that I’ve come to like is WPtouch iPhone Theme. As you can see from the screenshots here, the blog is rendered in an [...]

Blog updates: plugins and services

Site Referrer Info
I’ve finally gotten around to implementing a blog function that I’ve long wanted to incorporate into my blogs: a greet box to personalize my readers’ experience. You can see this in popular blogs such as Weblog Tools Collection. The reason for needing this is, I’ve decided to consolidate all my online contact forms [...]

WordPress 2.5 is out!

Well, it’s finally here! WordPress version 2.5 has been released today. That prompt that has been familiar since WP2.3 is now patiently waiting on the dashboard: “A new version of Wordpress is available! Please update now.”
Not that I’m going to upgrade right away. Although I did beta-test it, and had gotten to see a lot [...]

And I’m back…

I apologize for the many days when my blogs were down. This and most of my other blogs were taken offline due to a hardware foul-up at my previous host’s supposedly ‘industry strength’ data center. What a dismaying, depressing week it was for me.
The main reason why I chose Hostican.com for my VPS account was [...]

Ratings plugin

Again I’ve removed PostReach ClickComments, a 3rd-party service. That’s because I found an “in-house” WordPress plugin that does the job: WP-PostRatings. I’ve deployed this plugin on Davao Delicious and Mindanao Bloggers. It’s kinda heavy, but manageable.

New plugins 11/2007

Some plugins are headed for the trash bin, as I’ve discovered ones that work better with WP2.3. There’s one that I liked right away: a plugin by the great Alex King, called Articles. It lets you output a list of featured posts anywhere you want to put it. Takes some work, but well worth the [...]

WordPress plugins I use

I know it’s been talked about by other bloggers, but I’ve gotten asked about which WordPress plugins I use. So here goes…
Plugins serve to extend your WordPress blog — to give it more oomph, more pizzazz even. But most importantly, they help you make sense of your whole blogging experience. It could be to make [...]

Cool find: Postreach

Besides writing about various topics for my blogs, I also dabble in a bit of coding, some designing (not the actual work, just the ‘conceptualization’), and plugin-testing. I’ve actually crashed one blog because of my wanton installations of seemingly harmless 3rd-party plugins for WordPress. Lessons learned in the other side of blogging. But… plugins are [...]
