Off to Hong Kong again
Ever since I became active in the blogosphere, especially in the advocacy efforts of the Mindanao Bloggers Community, I’ve been getting invited to conferences, seminars, workshops and similar events. Most of them relate to Internet and cyber-media / journalism issues. There were the speaking engagements in local conferences, then came opportunities to contribute to larger-scale [...]
WordCamp PH2009 and other events
It’s a truly exhilarating experience after having put together two successful WordCamp Philippines events! The preparations for the second WordCamp in the country, held in Makati City last 19 September, was actually stressing me out to the point that I wasn’t getting my bread-and-butter work done properly the last couple of months. But, with the [...]

WordCamp Phils. T-shirt: it’s officially famous
Ever since Matt started talking about the WordCamp Philippines 2008 T-shirt design, the buzz hasn’t quite died down yet, even months after the event. Today I got a trackback to the WCP site from WordCamp Ed D.C. (WordCamp Ed is an initiative that’s focused on promoting the educational uses of WordPress.) The post is about [...]
WordCamp Philippines blog: a winner!
I know this post is rather late, but I don’t want to pass off blogging about this! :) The WordCamp Philippines official blog site was acclaimed the best website in the Events / Conferences category of this year’s DigitalFilipino Web Awards. Needless to say, I feel really proud of this award. It adds to the [...]
Matt: one of 25 most influential people on the Web
In March 2007, PC World declared Matt Mullenweg as 16th out of the 50 most important people on the Web. And a few days ago, BusinessWeek released their own list of the most influential people on the Web: Matt is one of the top 25. This prestigious magazine has dubbed him “The Publisher” for creating [...]
The WordCamp that was
After months of preparation, and a flurry of activities over several days, WordCamp Philippines 2008 is now just a memory — but still an exhilarating one! Being the organizing team leader of the event, I am reluctant to proclaim it a huge success, but judging from the many blog posts and news stories published about [...]
Touchdown!
No, not football. Matt Mullenweg, the main man at our WordCamp events, has arrived in Manila early this morning! He’ll be flying to Davao today and will stay here for a couple of days. The mini-WordCamp in Davao will take place tomorrow evening. Then on the 5th of September, we both fly to Manila for [...]
Can’t wait for 6 September!
[UPDATED: 2008-08-28] The two WordCamp Philippines events — in Davao and then in Manila — are barely two weeks hence… I’m getting all worked up about it already! For those of you who have registered successfully for the main event in Manila, you’ll be getting a camper’s badge, much like the one shown here.
