Air Supply @ GenSan
My long-time friend, Avel Manansala of General Santos City, invited me to be one of the judges for his blog contest, What Air Supply Song Are You? (creative, don’t you think?). So I dutifully read through around 20+ entries, thinking inwardly that it was going to be at least amusing.
Air Supply was (probably) all the rage when I was still quite young and unaffected by love songs, so I didn’t think I’d be able to relate. But, as I was reading through the blog contest entries — most of which had lyrics posted — there was a rather painful thump in my chest at seeing one of the chosen songs.
Memories of a cold, starry night drifted back all of a sudden… that time when my inexperienced heart was pierced by unrequited love… and Air Supply’s Lonely is the night was playing on a radio somewhere, making the pain seem even worse.
Whoa…!
I guess I’ll have to see that concert after all. Air Supply’s Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock will be performing live in GenSan on 2 October 2009, at the Lagao Gymnasium. Thanks to Grab A Crab Resto for wholeheartedly supporting the event!
