WordPress 101 seminar in GenSan

I’ve really been enjoying my trips to General Santos City since the start of the year. I’ll be back again tomorrow, 13 May 2009. This time, it’s for a WordPress seminar for the benefit of the bloggers there, and it’s being put together by Avel Manansala. He spearheaded the organizing of the very successful Mindanao Bloggers Summit last year and he’s been an avid WordPress user ever since.

The technical seminar will cover the basics of how to make full use of this most awesome of blogging platforms. I will also try to impress upon the participants the power of WordPress as a content management engine for use in non-blog websites. To make it more interesting, I will be avoiding a lecture type of seminar, but will make it a more free-flowing discussion of the features and functionality of WordPress. Best practices and blogosphere news will also be part of the mix.

For the first time since I started conducting WordPress seminars two years ago, Lyle Santos will be joining me as a resource speaker. Lyle will be presenting his methods in optimizing WordPress blogs for Google AdSense. Avel and I were very impressed with Lyle and his impromptu talk last year at MBS2, so I’m really excited to have him on board. He readily agreed to talk about AdSense when he was approached by Avel during the Summit in General Santos, and I must say, his input really made a lot of sense.

The WordPress seminar will be held tomorrow and on Thursday at the mezzanine of Coffee Club 101, Laurel East St., General Santos City, from 6:00 PM to around 9:00 PM or so.
