iPhone-compatible blogs
All my blogs are now iPhone/iPod touch-compatible!
Thanks to Winston for giving me the heads-up on the existence of these WordPress plugins. There are a few similar plugins out there, but the one that I’ve come to like is WPtouch iPhone Theme. As you can see from the screenshots here, the blog is rendered in an Apple-esque user interface, which makes it easier to read and navigate blogs on the iPhone or iPod touch.
No more need to add meta tags to your site headers, nor to have special URLs setup — just install & activate the WPtouch plugin and your blog’s good to go! When people browse your blog on an iPhone, the plugin will automatically detect the device and get to work on displaying the iPhone-compatible version of your blog.

This shows the home screen of DavaoDeli.com on the iPod touch, with the excerpt of one post pulled down.

This is what a blog post from DavaoDeli.com looks like when viewed with an iPhone or iPod touch.

The WPtouch plugin also renders a menu or table of contents, which makes it a breeze to navigate through the blog's content while on the go!
One thing I like about the WPtouch plugin is that it leaves a lot of your blog’s (and plugin’s) functions intact. What I mean is, only the design is manipulated by the plugin; the rest are left as they are. You can still do site searches, read and post comments, even grab RSS feeds.
Speaking of design, the plugin gives you some freedom in changing the colors of the blog as viewed on the iPhone. Hopefully, in later versions, there will be more ways to manipulate the output design.
I’m looking forward to more improvements to this handy little plugin, such as more granular control of the settings. Still, I give this WordPress plugin a two-thumbs up!

wow. this one’s better than WP PDA.
nagchcchange din ba for smart phones or iPhone/iPod lang?
@Winston — Yep, it’s a better plugin when it comes to rendering blog on the iPhone. But no, it doesn’t work for other platforms.
Now i can see the titles at once. iLike :)
@honeylou – iThank you
Cool! I’m gonna install this on my blog. Thanks for sharing!
One thing though, I have no way of checking if it works coz I don’t have an iPhone. Hehe
@Jaypee — Well, let me know and I’ll check it for you. I’ll even send you screenshots. ;)
There, I’ve installed WP Touch on my blog. Can you please check it for me? Screenshots would be much appreciated as well. Thanks!
That’s odd. I tried installing WP Touch from my site’s dashboard and it’s warning me that the plugin hasn’t been tested with my version of WordPress. I’m on 2.7 naman. :-?
@Dean — It’s OK. It doesn’t mean that the plugin isn’t compatible with WP2.7. It probably means that the WP team hasn’t gotten around to testing WPtouch yet. But it’s perfectly fine on the 2.7.
Oh. Awesome. Thanks! Now to install…
Have fun with it, Dean!
Thanks for this! I’ll try it on my friend’s iPhone!
