The DigitalFilipino.com Club — the nationwide organization of Internet and e-commerce professionals, practitioners, hobbyists, enthusiasts and watchers — will be having a membership and bloggers networking event in Davao City on 21 October 2008 (Tuesday), from 6:00 PM at the Grand Regal Hotel.
The DigitalFilipino.com Club was started on Christmas Day five years ago, and has now grown to almost 100 members (individual and corporate). It was initiated by Janette Toral, who is hailed as the Mother of E-Commerce in the Philippines for her efforts in lobbying for the passage of the e-commerce law (RA8792) in June 2000.
Toral, in her efforts to provide the Filipino entrepreneur with cutting-edge skills, is also an accomplished writer and publisher. Her latest book is called Blogging from Home, and is available throughout the country. Contrary to the somewhat laissez-faire title, the book is in fact a detailed account of how blogging can become a serious source of income for today’s average citizen.
The networking event this October, sponsored by PAGCOR, will welcome not only members of the Club but the bloggers of Mindanao as well. The affair is the perfect opportunity for entrepreneurs and professionals to connect with each other and generate possible business leads. The DigitalFilipino.com Club “eyeballs” have always been business-oriented, and has, from the beginning, focused on developing and furthering commerce, especially of the electronic persuasion.
This writer is a long-time member of the DigitalFilipino.com Club, and has personally benefited from his membership in terms of successfully closed business deals with fellow members.
On 21 October 2008, Toral will present the activities of the club, as well as plans for future engagements. PAGCOR will also launch their Internet / E-commerce project during this event. Updates related to the Philippine blogosphere will also be presented, especially with regards the upcoming 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit to be held in General Santos City on 25 October 2008.
Please refer to the Club’s blog for more details and for information on how to participate in the DigitalFilipino.com Club and Bloggers Davao Networking Event.
