The two WordCamp Philippines events — in Davao and then in Manila — are barely two weeks hence… I’m getting all worked up about it already!
For those of you who have registered successfully for the main event in Manila, you’ll be getting a camper’s badge, much like the one shown here.
Of course, the organizers, volunteers, speakers and sponsors also have their own badges. Check it out.
The barcodes are for control. Instead of printing and giving out claim stubs, we’re going to use scanners to try and keep everything running smoothly at WordCamp.
Lane Systems, one of our sponsors and a highly-respected business software provider, is letting us use their barcode readers. They’ve even designed the software to run them and help us keep track of the data. You’ll see them in action on the 6th of September!
Thanks also to my friends at King Printers (Davao) for doing a nice job with the camper’s badges, and for the certificates of appreciation that we’ll be presenting to our resource speakers.
Here’s a photo of Andrew and Rodney, CEO of Lane Systems Inc., finalizing the barcode system. This was at Basti’s Brew last 27 August 2008.

Hey blogs, will there be wifi at the Manila venue?

@Micketymoc — Yes of course!
CSB has in-house wifi, and SmartBro is sponsoring too.

@Micketymoc — Make sure to declare your laptop via the online equipment ingress form ha? It’s on this page:

What about the davao leg, does the venue have WiFi (do we need to register our gadgets too?) and are we gonna get badges too?

Hi Bloggie
I just read about WordCamp in Davao. Sali sana ako kaya lang it’s closed na. I’ve been off somewhere for a few months and just happen to know about it. Send ka naman ng newsletters sa mga members ng Mindanao bloggers sa upcoming events.
Anyways, Good luck sa event and more events to come pa!

@Lyle — Yep, there will also be free wifi at the Davao venue. No need to register equipment for that. In Manila, it was the venue (CSB) that required us to submit the list of equipment.
@Runel — I’m sorry about that, but we’ve reached our limit. And there were announcements made via the MindanaoBloggers mailing list.
