It’s very encouraging, to say the least, the response we’ve been getting from supporters of WordCamp Philippines. For example, on the very same day that we made our first announcement regarding this international event, I got an interview request from Inquirer.net (subsequent article came out here). They can sure sniff out a scoop!

And before we knew it, WordPressers from all over began to express their desire to volunteer and be part of this major effort. Sponsors didn’t lag behind either. In only a couple of weeks (and the event is slated not less than 3 months hence), we had i.ph: The Domain for Individuals and WazzupManila letting us know that they were coming on board as sponsors.

Also, the wonderful folks over at College of St. Benilde graciously presented their venue and facilities, without even being asked. And another outfit, MyImage Media, has approached us recently and has signaled their intent to sponsor the event.

I tell you, this is an organizer’s dream!! For more than a decade now I’ve been doing events — including a few major ones, like the 80th Philippine Open Golf Championship — but this is the first time I’m seeing such a groundswell of cooperation and community involvement.
