Posting with Windows Live Writer
Today I downloaded and installed Windows Live Writer, and I have a feeling from now on (if I do get the hang of this), I’m going to use this neat program for posting to my
blogs. Thanks to my friends in the Microsoft community here in Davao for telling me about this piece of software.
The most readily visible advantage of Live Writer is that I get to post using an interface that’s comfortably familiar — quite akin to MS Word, in fact. The way the editor is laid out gets you right at home the moment you start using it. (Take a look at the screen shot.)
I have yet to explore all of Live Writer’s functionalities, but so far I’m really happy with it. To get your own — it’s free! — go to this site a
nd download the software. After the rather lengthy installation process, Live Writer will ask you for some info about your blogs. Oh yeah, you can configure the program to work with all of your blogs, whether it’s on WordPress, Blogger, or almost any other blogging platform.
Within Live Writer, you’ll be able to configure your categories, tags, publish date/time, import images (and have them uploaded to your blog), and quite a few more other cool stuff.
What I’m going to like about this is that, I’m going to have a local copy of my blog posts, without having to copy them to a local file. This is going to make me feel a whole lot better, knowing that I have a backup of my writings.
UPDATE
This post has been published, and now I’m editing it…. It’s really awesome, the way Live Writer “integrates” almost seamlessly with WordPress! Of course, it’s not 100%, but I don’t see anything that I could seriously complain about.
I feel like a kid with a new toy.

Ok na ok to Blogie. At least may backup sa mga posts
Glad you like it too. I’m already getting the hang of it — ever since this post, all of my posts to all my blogs have been done with Live Writer.
Oh, I’ve found a limitation. While Live Writer has the capability to add Technorati tags, I can’t seem to get it to integrate with the native tagging system of self-hosted WordPress…

UPDATE:
Live Writer does let you insert tags — but it’s called keywords instead. You can event control what slug appear in your post’s URL, insert an excerpt, etc. Just like you were inside WordPress!
