WordPress 2.5 is out!
Well, it’s finally here! WordPress version 2.5 has been released today. That prompt that has been familiar since WP2.3 is now patiently waiting on the dashboard: “A new version of Wordpress is available! Please update now.”
Not that I’m going to upgrade right away. Although I did beta-test it, and had gotten to see a lot of the bug fixes and stuff, I’m still wary of shifting to the new version.
You see, on the inside, WP now sports a totally different interface. Matt M. says that the reason they overhauled the dashboard was because the old layout was rather confusing, especially for newbies. (Actually, even for experienced WP users, the organization of the old dashboard doesn’t invite much adulation.)
Another issue for me: my themes might not be 100% compatible with the upgraded version. I have yet to inspect all my blogs’ templates to determine whether they’re ready for the next step up.
Plugins? That too. Although, WP2.5 now ships with a number of the most commonly used plugins already built-in. Oh and plugin upgrades are now just a click away! No more downloading from the wordpress.org vault and uploading to your server and all that mess.
Still, version 2.5 does look very enticing, what with the new security features (e.g., salted passwords)
For an overview of the new and improved WordPress, here’s another link.
Of course, when I do upgrade (which will be very soon), Blogie Blog will be the first in line.

I would agree with you on this one because, We are not sure if v2.5 would support the old themes specially is you are using customized themes.
@Cesar Noel — Very true! Like me, I’ve already customized all my themes heavily… Porting them all to WP2.5 is gonna be such a task. But I do look forward to it, time willing.
