Well waddaya know, Digg.com has been refurbished somewhat. Not a big leap from the old GUI and eye candy, but the behavior’s been upgraded. The whole look-and-feel of the site remains, but you notice changes here and there, and that makes for a refreshing experience.

One thing that seems to have improved is the way the system checks for duplicate diggs. Before, it was always a nuisance to have to confirm that the story you’re digging isn’t a duplicate of previously-dugg items. Ever since I’ve been digging, I’ve never been presented with suggestions of duplicates that were anywhere near accurate. So now that’s changed, thank goodness — at least, one step in the digging process that’s been eliminated (or at least relegated to the background).
I don’t appreciate the two wait screens during the digging process, however. They’re not even visually appealing. Oh well, can’t have ‘em all…
Digg is a social bookmarking service. At least that’s what it was originally meant to be. Today, it seems like they’re also jumping in the social networking bandwagon. Now you can add more photos, and there’s a shoutout box for letting people know you’re alive (and not buried! …sorry, bad joke).
Don’t get me wrong: they do have their own wide base of subscribed users. But, is Digg trying to face off with Facebook?
(You don’t digg? You should! For one, it’s a good way of getting the word out about your blog posts!)

At first, I didn’t notice the changes. The changes were neat and nice. I agree, they still have the same look and feel.
