This month I started deploying WidgetBucks ads. I found out about it from Jehz and Winston, the creators of the awesome PRC Board Exam Results blog. I’ve gone through other types of blog monetization, and I’ve rejected some of them already (like Kontera, which was really fugly). Hopefully, WidgetBucks will turn out to be a good deal.
Currently, the ads are on Ang Dabawenyo and the Davao Blogspace. While I’m still observing the whole WidgetBucks system, these are the only deployments I’ll have for now.
Things I like about WidgetBucks:
- When you sign up, you automatically get $25 in your account! Since payouts are done after you reach $50, joining actually gets you halfway to your first check.
- PayPal payments. Payouts can also be by check… but why?
- There’s a referral program! For example, if I refer you to them, I get a 10% commission of your earnings for a year. (Hmmm… I hope the commission doesn’t come out of your payout…)
- It seems that the click-through rates are pretty high. In only a week or so I earned $5 already. That’s much faster than how I earn from AdSense.
There’s one thing that I don’t like, though. WidgetBucks ads load rather slowly. According to Jehz it takes about 4 seconds. It’s not much… but the loading of the ad placement causes the browser to freeze momentarily, so it’s annoying sometimes. I hope this gets fixed soon. (This might not be such a big deal for people who have broadband Internet, but for us with lowly DSL connections….)
Try it out! It surely won’t hurt to give it a test run. Btw, this is not a paid ad.

I think they are scammers

I have been thinking about using Widgetbucks myself. Sorry, but I signed up weeks ago already. If I hadn’t I would have signed up as a referral from you. I’ll probably just try it on one blog to start out and see how I like it.

@Bob — That’s OK! The fact that you’re also trying it out gives me more confidence in it.
@Fashion Directory — Hmmm… I wonder why many bloggers say online money-making gigs are scams right off the bat? Do you have proof? Well, there’s one way to find out: if I don’t get my money from them after the first payout period, they probably are scammers. If I do get my money… you get the picture.
