Blogie’s blogs now on WP2.3!
WordPress 2.3 at last! I’m talking about ALL my blogs running on WordPress — the 4 blogs that I personally author, my father’s Gospel Reflections, the blog aggregator, and several others that I maintain for other folks. Whew! But it really wasn’t all that painful. It took me just under an hour (including snacks & bathroom breaks) to upgrade all of those blogs to the latest version of this awesome blogging platform.
Ah, there’s one blog that I haven’t yet upgraded: MindanaoBloggers. The reason being, I’m not quite sure yet if the plugin that runs the Mindanao Blog Directory will function well in the WP2.3 environment. I have yet to do some test runs on that.
Aside from the tagging feature which is now native in the newest version, what I really appreciate in WP2.3 is its new functionality that alerts you of available plugin upgrades. And it provides a download link too, right in the Plugins screen of your Dashboard. Not really a whole lot of visible changes from the previous version, but you can feel that WordPress is definitely moving forward. WP users just have that confidence that this excellent content management software will keep on developing.
Many blogging newbies seem to think that WordPress is just for techies. Well, yeah, if you really want to maximize its full potential, you’d really need to be a bit of a geek to do that. But actually, WordPress is surprisingly user-friendly for such a powerful application. If you want to give it a try without having to commit yet — i.e., no shelling out of moolah — check out WordPress.com.

Congratulations on the upgrades, Blogie! I’m glad to hear that they went smoothly.
Thanks Bob! It was a cinch.
If you after the security upgrade I would recommend going to 2.2.3 than jumping ahead to 2.3 because its too early and there might be bugs and plugin incompatibilties.
I did consider that, Cesar. But I did read about 2.3 extensively before I upgraded, and I did carefully study the plugins’ compatibility. So far so good!
