WordPress users in Davao
Two weeks ago, WordPress 2.3 was released, and now I’m contemplating on upgrading my blogs from their current WP2.2.2 version. Based on what I’ve read so far, WP2.3 promises to be an exciting development from previous releases — native support for tagging (for better SEO!), plugin ugrade alerts, and much more.
Matt, the founder of WordPress, held an upgrade party the day after they released the new version. For us WP die-hards and geeks, that sure sounds like a darned good excuse to get together and have a few brews!
I wonder how many self-hosted WordPress users are in Davao? I’d really like to know, so that maybe we could all have a WP upgrade party here ourselves! And I know the place for it, too: Fwendz Diner. This place is fast becoming an I.T. professionals hangout. And now they have free wifi — with cheap beer and awesome food, it’s just perfect.
Self-hosted WordPress refers to this excellent blogging application that is installed in the user’s own Web hosting account. I use it for most of my blogs, including this one. The free WordPress.com service is a different story altogether. WordPress.com is a fine blogging platform… but the amount of tweaking or improving that you can do on it is minimal compared to self-hosted WordPress. And, at present, you can’t monetize WordPress.com blogs.
So what about it, guys? Anyone looking to upgrade? As a group, the upgrade process wouldn’t be as tedious or boring or scary as when you’re doing it alone, don’t you think?
WordPress.com users and bloggers using other systems would be welcome as well!

I wish i could upgrade my WP the soonest time.
@Beejing — It was a totally painless procedure, upgrading my various blogs to WP2.3. Try it!
I’ve been running my self hosted Wordpress blog for some time now (just upgraded it from 2.1 to 2.2.2 3 months ago.) I’m still skeptical on jumping to 2.3 because of some plugin issues.
