Inspiring others to blog
Last night I took time off to help out a good friend with some of the more technical aspects of blogging. After maintaining his blog for some time now, Mandaya Moore decided it was time to take the next step — the one that’s beyond merely writing articles. Specifically, he was curious about MyBlogLog. So I apprised him of the wonders of social bookmarking services. For good measure, I also showed him the ropes around Technorati. Well, the basics anyway.
Sitting down with my friend and having been able to share my knowledge gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling yesterday. Not only because Mandaya and I are friends, but also because I realized I’d gotten so busy lately that I’d neglected my objective this year. And that’s to get more people to start blogging. Earlier, around summer, I was able to inspire two friends to take it up, but that was it. So I’m glad that my friend, who will remain anonymous behind his blogging pseudonym (for now), gave me the chance to pick up where I’d left off.
I don’t think I could call myself a problogger just yet, in spite of what I’ve been doing these past 6 months. I’ve actually spent more time blogging — and tweaking and twisting and tinkering with my blogs — than anything else since February this year. But, technically speaking, I’m not a problogger yet because blogs aren’t my bread and butter. I’ve just breached my second $100 on Adsense, and I’ve only started to make a little moolah from TLA. Oh and I’ve already gotten a check from ReviewMe… But, the total is still wa-a-ay beneath the level that could support my lifestyle.
Still, hitching my cabooze to the blog train doesn’t sound so far out anymore. When I began typing out my first few posts, I never even thought I could seriously consider a career in writing. But now, there’s a bright light up ahead the tunnel.
Speaking of earning via blogging, I got to writing this post because of another blog-friend of mine, JehzLau. His shrilly excitement over receiving his first Adsense cheque — and winning $100 from DigitalFilipino — is sooo infectious!

I hear ya. I’m blogging to try and make enough money to mortgage a beach house. Currently average around $60 a month, so I have a ways to go.
TLA & PayPerPost work best for me.
Keep up the good work.

Hey thanks, Beachbum! Thanks for dropping by!
Yeah TLA looks like the best way to make a few bucks, compared to Adsense. PayPerPost too… thing is, they remit funds only via PayPal, and we in the Philippines can’t receive money via PayPal, only send. Weird huh?
Interesting blog you have there, btw. I’m gonna read more later!
wahehehehe… ang saya talaga kuya blogie! hehehe
@jehz — Yeah it’s all fun!
Wow, good to hear you people are earning through Adsense. I only earn 1 to 3 dollars a month in Adsense. I average 4k a month visitors according to Webalizer. I even have Adsense on my 2 other sites!
Hi Jeffrey! It’s really difficult to understand how Adsense works internally, no? I’m not exactly earning a lot (yet!) on Adsense, that’s why I try to explore other means, such as TLA. Soon I’m going to consider running my own review service — if I think it’s doable.
