I was blog-hopping after not doing it for a while, and I chanced upon Karlo’s PinoyBlogero.com. He’d linked to MindanaoBloggers.com to help spread the word about the upcoming bloggers summit in Davao this October, and that’s how I found his site. Thanks for the helping hand, Karlo!
What attracted me to the blog, and made me stay and browse, was the blogger’s use of anime characters that he’d drawn himself. I like this style, because I try to use it myself over at AngDabawenyo.com (although it’s not me doing the drawings of “Dave” but my cousin Ria). Aside from photos and videos, I believe that original artwork like drawings and even paintings can encourage your blog’s readers to stay longer and read more posts.
And speaking of artwork, Karlo’s come up with a really interesting gimmick: customized feed buttons. (I realize that post on PinoyBlogero.com has been up since early June — but like I said, I hadn’t been blog-hopping lately.
) Based on the number of comments he’s gotten so far, I think his blog-promoting campaign is going to be a success for Karlo. This is one effective way of getting the word out about your site, via the best viral marketing method ever: the proverbial word-of-mouth. Here’s the intro text from his post:
Are you having a hard time promoting your feeds to your readers because of that small and plain-looking feed chiclet on your blog? Worry no further. You can now increase your subscriptions by attracting your readers attention with the use of PinoyBlogero’s customized feed button for your blog!
Not that I completely agree with the guy, because, in my opinion, it’s still your content that will ultimately make readers decide to subscribe to your feed. However, I see his point that readers just might feel like clicking on your feed button if it were inviting enough. So, I thought I’d give it a look-see!
Karlo will design your clickable button for free. He only asks that you do a review of his blog on your own blog. This isn’t my review — I’m going to write one as soon as I receive my own feed button for one of my blogs.

Hi! Thanks for promoting my blog and my feed buttons. Unfortunately, i had already stopped accepting feed button a couple of days ago because I could not cope up with the great amount of orders that I recieve every week. I haven’t got the chance to announce it because I already had all my articles lined up for the week.
I’m very sorry. I could still try to accomodate your order, although I don’t know how long it will take.
Sorry po uli.

Too bad you’ve stopped the service, Karlo… It was a good run, though, wasn’t it?

Yes it was. i received a good number of links when i started that campaign. However, it was a little time consuming which is why i decided to end it. Thank you again! Happy blogging!
