Blogger eyeball with Ms. Google Philippines

Last night’s blogger and SEO get-together at 51 Coffee Shop with Aileen Apolo (Google country consultant) gave us a chance to meet up with a few new faces in the Davao blogosphere. We were hoping to get more people to show up, but I guess the rain was one culprit why many didn’t make it. Hmmm… why is it that each time we hold a bloggers’ meet-up here, it rains…. But Andrew, Jun, Marc, Migs and Ria were present, of course — The Usual Suspects are always where the action is, come hell or high water. ;)

The SEOs present were from BHIPro, formerly known as Hubport Interactive. BHIPro, basically a software development house, has recently created a department to handle search engine optimization services. The only other SEO practitioner who was there during the eyeball was Andrew dela Serna.

Although it was really just an informal gathering, it would’ve been more interesting and intellectually stimulating if there had been more bloggers and SEOs guys who attended. For one, we could’ve discussed in detail Marc Macalua’s Bayanihan SEO Contest. We might’ve been able to form a team that could join this P600,000-award contest.

Oh well, there’ll be more chances to get more people in the loop in the coming weeks. The Usual Suspects are cooking up more eyeballs and more serious meetings for July.

On the other hand, it was a good chance for us to touch base again with Aileen. I’m delighted to find out from her that Google’s Blogger now forms part of her purview, which most probably means she’ll be able to provide more support for activities that involve promoting blogspot.com blogs here in the South. Most bloggers here make use of blogspot.com as their blogging platform. (I know, I know… most of my blogs are on WordPress, but I have one on Blogger.)

Here are some photos of the eyeball (and the karaoke gig after), courtesy of Aileen.

Sayang! I wish I was there. :) Next time talaga, I’ll make sure my stay in Davao is more than a day lang. Super thanks again for making us feel at home there. Can’t wait to be back, and yes, definitely for more knowledge exchange. :)
