Bob Martin has tagged me back, this time for a meme game on 5 revealing things about yourself. I suppose these are stuff that not many people know about you…. About me, that is. Bob actually tagged my Ang Dabawenyo blog, but I’d rather play these blogger games right here. So here goes.
- My all-time favorite food is pork chops. I could eat it everyday! Actually, that’s the reason why. In college, when I was “roughing it out” with my cousins in their townhouse in Quezon City, pork chops were all we ate! I used to hate that back then. But now, whenever we have it at home, I’m practically ecstatic!
- I wake up really late most days. I’m a night owl, see. My creative juices flow at night (no, not that creative juice!), so I stay up till 3 or 4 A.M. couple times a week. When I find myself awake mornings, I just do routine stuff, definitely no world-shaking activities. It’s a b|tch having to wake up early when I have morning meetings in the morning… but I guess I do live in this timezone!
- I hang out at coffee shops a lot. Most people know that, but not the reason why. I can work (do Japanese translation, work on my column, etc.) at Basti’s or some other café. I certainly love coffee. But the real reason behind my spending time in coffee shops is for people-watching. I find that highly stimulating. People are so different and unique, it makes for interesting observation. But a pet peeve is noisy people. At Basti’s, it’s getting rather noisy now, what with some regulars there who think they own the place.
- I’m OC when it comes to writing. I triple check my work all the time, especially for grammatical and spelling errors. (And I don’t use automatic spell-check either; I don’t trust them.) So much so that, when a mistake escapes me, it bothers me to no end. Also, I dislike being edited. Being corrected for spelling or grammar is OK, but not for my writing style. Speaking of which, I’ve been trying to change the way I write — my “voice” — but due to this OC-ness, it’s difficult.
- Last! I have a secret desire to cook. Always have. When I was living in Makati in 2005, I had to cook for myself because it was getting too expensive to always eat out. So I learned how to cook, with the help of my good friend, Bamba N., who generously share her recipes with me. I discovered I could actually follow a recipe and have the dish taste good. There were a couple of times when I cooked for the guys at a cook-out and they cleaned out the spicy tuna spaghetti à la Bamba that I made.
Whew! So now I have to tag 5 people to keep this game going. Let’s see…

Naku, I hope it isn’t one of my friends being noisy at Basti’s! Hahaha Although I can say na well-behaved naman kami when we hang out there (you think?) LoL I miss Basti’s and its old crowd, nung wala pa masyadong tao, pre-smoking ordinance, cause now it seems to me that people only go there to smoke.
