Spiderzzz

Spiderman 3 was a big let-down: most definitely not a worthy successor to the two previous hits. I wouldn’t be surprised if it flopped in the box office. For one, the movie dragged on and on during the first half.

Also, there were too many characters, some of which the movie could’ve done without. Three villains?? One honest-to-goodness villain, one reluctant one, and one who turned coat. Result: half-baked character development.

Some of the cause-and-effect sequences were so poorly crafted. Like Harry’s change of heart — only after a few words from a previously unknown butler…. And Peter Parker’s competitor photographer, Eddie Brock a.k.a. the Venom, he goes to church and makes the sign of the cross. So clearly he’s Catholic… but he calls Jesus “sir”? And he prays for someone’s demise? Yeah sure, villainy, but it was lame. (Topher Grace was pretty good on That ’70s Show, though. He should’ve stayed there.)

Spiderman under the influence of the meteorite thingie. WTF!? Lousy acting by Toby Maguire, plus some of the scenes were so unnecessary and cheesy — at some point I was afraid he’d burst into a musical number.

Oh and that meteorite…. That was one major boo-boo. They should’ve built on that theme, instead of wasting the audience’s time on the Sandman. Instead, it became like a deus ex machina, but for the bad guys.

It was very apt, though, to have included the part where Mary Jane gets a thumbs-down from her critics: it spoke of the whole film.

that’s what happens when you put a lot of villains in the movie and want them all to hug it out then go after the toughest villain there.

    I’ve yet to see it.

I couldn’t agree with you more. What a lousy script. There are so many WTF moments but the one which stood out the most for me was when the butler revealed to Harry how his father died. Hello? He knew it all along but he just said nothing. Sheesh. I’m getting a headache just thinking about it.
